Helping students thrive

Solid Foundations Academy is a one-stop academic center for the entire family. We are a learning hub with programs for people from 6 weeks up to geriatrics. Our programs create “solid foundations” in academics and a love for learning!

For over ten years, we’ve been helping families grow academically, socially, and emotionally in a safe, nurturing environment. With two convenient locations and a dedicated staff of 20+ educators, our programs are designed to support families and help students thrive.

Amanda Davis

Preschool Director AM Gamma/ Delta

Miss Amanda is the lead teacher for the Gamma Delta AM program. After graduating from Hampton High School, Miss Amanda attended the University of Pittsburgh- Oakland where she received a Bachelor of Science in Environmental and Contemporary Social Sciences. Throughout her college career, Miss Amanda was an assistant teacher in Childcare at Solid Foundations Academy where she discovered her love for children and education. Following her graduation from Pitt, she continued her higher education as the Community College of Allegheny County, receiving her Diploma in Early Childhood Director Core. Now in her third year teaching the Gamma Delta classroom, Miss Amanda prides herself in having a classroom emphasis on inclusivity, positivity, structure as well as an individualized and easily digestible teaching approach! She is an advocate for environmental protection and equality in education. In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with her niece, husband and many adorable pets! She looks forward to the many years and lovely families and students she will encounter working at SFA to come!

Brianna Pfeiffer

Preschool Teacher

Upon graduation from Deer Lakes High School, Miss Bri earned a Bachelor of Art in Dance from Slippery Rock University with a minor in Adapted Physical Activity. While studying at Slippery Rock, Miss Bri had the opportunity to begin teaching children of all ages dance classes. From there, Miss Bri got to know the students that would become her children that she would nanny over the summer. As well as teaching dance classes during college, Bri was working with individuals with disabilities in a physical activity atmosphere to complete her minor. Bri works Preschool, K- Enrichment and in Childcare as well as a dance teacher a various local dance studio. She finds joy in all the little moments with her family and creating choreography for her dancers.Bri has worked with kids for 8 years and is still passionate about it as she was at the very start. She enjoys watching kids learn to be confident in who they are and reach their milestones. Bri is married and hopes to add a furry friend to her family really soon. Bri is grateful to be a part of Solid Foundations Academy and can’t wait to see herself grow as a teacher.

Preschool Director/ Preschool Teacher/ Childcare Specialist

Karen Snavely joined Solid Foundations Academy the very first month that we opened as an academy in September 2016! She earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. She currently holds both public and private certifications in Elementary Education K-6, Nursery-Kindergarten, and Early Childhood Center Directorship. Throughout the years, Karen has worked with children and their families across a variety of settings which include being a therapeutic staff support person, and working in school districts, churches, preschools, and summer camps. She is married to Scott Snavely and they have three young adult daughters. Karen has both personal and professional experience in teaching children who have a wide range of abilities.

Childcare Director/ Childcare Specialist/ Preschool Teacher

Melanie is the Childcare Director for the Wexford Location. She has been working for Solid Foundations Academy since 2017 and has enjoyed every minute since she has started. Melanie has her Associates Degree in Early Education and Child Development from CCAC as well as her Director Certification. She plans on continuing her education at Carlow University to earn her Bachelor’s Degree.

Melanie personal goals are for her to start her own family and to purchase her first home!

She is excited to meet your family and help your little one to grow and learn.

Kristy Fredrich

Childcare Specialist

Kristy has been with Solid Foundations Academy for a year and a half now and she brings a creative side to this center. She has a diploma in graphic arts and design. She gets the opportunity to express her creativity and art by designing the bulletin boards you see when you enter the center. She has worked in several different job setting and working in the childcare field is her calling. Kristy has a little over 12 years working with children. She loves watching the kids grow into their own special unique personalities and seeing them have their “ah-ha” moments when discovering and learning something new.

She plans to further her education by acquiring her CDA from Carlow University. Kristy truly feels that she has found her “forever home” at SFA.

Jordan Pijanowski

Preschool Teacher/ Childcare Specialist

Jordan Pijanowski is a dedicated educator with a passion for helping children learn, grow, and thrive. She earned her degree in Early Childhood Education (PK–4) with a Minor in Special Education and an International Concentration from Slippery Rock University.

Jordan’s experience working with children spans a variety of settings—from early learning classrooms to dance studios. She began her journey as a classroom aide at Priory Court Children’s Center and later at the SRU/SGA Child Care Center, where she supported the development of children ages two through eight through engaging lessons and nurturing care.

Outside of the classroom, Jordan has shared her love of learning and creativity as a dance teacher at Emotion Dance Academy by Erin, where she has inspired students ages 3–18 for more than seven years. Through dance, she fosters confidence, discipline, and teamwork while building meaningful relationships with her students.

Jordan’s background also includes leadership and mentorship roles through her involvement in Delta Zeta Sorority, where she served as Vice President of New Member Education—guiding and supporting incoming members through their educational journey.

With her strong foundation in early childhood education, hands-on classroom experience, and genuine love for children, Jordan is committed to creating a positive, inclusive environment where every child can succeed.

Aidan Pijanowski

Childcare Specialist

Aidan Pijanowski brings a warm, creative spirit and a lifelong passion for working with children to her role at Solid Foundations Academy. A Pittsburgh native and graduate of Pittsburgh CAPA, Aidan has built a strong foundation in both the arts and education—blending her love for dance, teaching, and child development into everything she does.

Her professional journey includes years of experience working with children of all ages—as a babysitter, dance instructor, substitute teacher, and event assistant for multiple studios. Through her work at Emotion Dance Academy by Erin, Aidan has guided young dancers in building confidence, creativity, and teamwork, both in the classroom and on stage.

A committed and caring professional, Aidan believes in creating joyful, supportive environments where children can explore, express themselves, and grow. She is proud to be a member of both the National Honor Society of Academics and the National Honor Society of Dance Arts, reflecting her dedication to excellence and integrity in every aspect of her work.

At Solid Foundations Academy, Aidan combines her artistic background with her nurturing personality to help every child feel seen, valued, and inspired to learn. Aidan is thrilled to bring her creative talents to Solid Foundations Academy.

Shayla Livingston

Wexford Staff

Shayla Livingston is a dedicated professional with experience in team leadership, child care, and community-focused service. She brings a compassionate, reliable, and people-centered approach to her work, supported by a background in staff supervision, training, and family engagement.

With experience as a Shift Manager, Marketing Associate, and In-Home Nanny, Shayla has developed strong skills in communication, organization, positive reinforcement, and individualized support. She is passionate about working with children and families and is committed to supporting programs that value dignity, growth, and meaningful outcomes.

Childcare Director/ Childcare Specialist/ Preschool Teacher

Taylor has been with Solid Foundations Academy for 2 years now and she has loved every moment of it. She was at the Wexford location as a childcare teacher and had the opportunity to become the director at the new location. Taylor has a bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Language with a minor in Education from La Roche College. She has been working with children for over 10 years and stills loves it. Taylor has worked with all ages before becoming director and she can’t wait to see the center and your children grow. Taylor plans to continue her education by going back to college at CCAC to get her private teaching license certification. She is newly married and has two furry animals at home that she loves to talk about. One day she hopes to be a mother and her children can be a part of the SFA family. Taylor is happy to call Solid Foundations Academy her home away from home!

Childcare Specialist

Pam Sippel has been with Solid Foundations Academy for 3 years. She is married and has 3 children and 1 granddaughter who lives out of state. While working for SFA Pam has worked in preschool and in childcare. She is always willing to help out wherever she is needed. Pam brings a warm and nurturing feel to the classroom and center every day. All the kids love Pam and want to show Pam what they have been learning in their classrooms. Pam favorite thing about teaching children is the hugs when your child walks in the door. She loves to make your child smile and laugh while making a huge impact in their lives.

Kayce Hile

Childcare Specialist

Kayce has recently embarked on her professional journey at Solid Foundations Academy, where she has already begun to make a significant impact in the classroom. With her warm and nurturing demeanor, she contributes to creating an inviting and supportive environment for both her students and families. Her approach not only fosters a sense of belonging but also encourages personal growth and development within the learning environment.

Kayce’s dedication to enhancing the educational experience is quickly becoming evident as she builds positive relationships with those around her. She is excited to be part of the SFA family and watch herself and the students around her grow.

Childcare Specialist

Ashley has been a dedicated member of the Solid Foundations Academy team for the past two years, serving as both an Aide and Summer Camp Teacher. Her passion for working with children began at an early age—she started babysitting at just 13 years old and went on to teach cheer camp for elementary students for four years.

Ashley’s goal has always been to make learning fun, engaging, and meaningful for every child she works with. In high school, she pursued education-focused courses to prepare for a career in teaching, and she continues to follow that path as a student at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she is majoring in Elementary Education.

Her enthusiasm, creativity, and genuine love for helping children grow make her an invaluable part of the Solid Foundations team.

Makayla Rosell

Preschool Teacher/ Childcare Specialist

Makayla is a dedicated and passionate educator who holds a degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education (PreK-4th) from Slippery Rock University. She is committed to creating a positive, supportive learning environment where all students can grow and thrive.

Makayla loves working with children and believes in the power of building strong. trusting relationships with her students. Her enthusiasm for teaching is matched by her desire to keep learning- she plans to continue her education to further support the needs of her students and the school community. She is excited to be part of the SFA family.

John Mangis

IBHS One-on-One Support Specialist

John Mangis is a dedicated member of the Solid Foundations Academy IBHS team, providing individualized, one-on-one support to children in a structured, nurturing environment.

John retired after more than 20 years of service with the Allegheny County Jail, where he held a supervisory role with extensive responsibility. Throughout his career, he coordinated daily operations, managed high-pressure situations, and served as a long-standing member of the C.E.R.T. (Certified Emergency Response Team). This experience strengthened his skills in behavioral observation, crisis prevention, de-escalation, and maintaining safe, structured environments—all of which translate seamlessly into his work with children.

He also worked closely with individuals entering structured systems, gaining a deep understanding of how routines, clear expectations, and consistent support positively impact behavior and emotional regulation. John brings this calm, steady approach into his work with children, helping them feel secure, understood, and supported.

John is highly knowledgeable in Autism and evidence-based intervention strategies and is committed to helping children build communication skills, emotional awareness, and independence at their own pace.

As a proud grandfather of three, John values patience, encouragement, and strong relationships. He is passionate about supporting children and families through compassionate, individualized care and believes every child deserves a strong foundation for success.

Maintenance Supervisor

Eric Rupert is the Maintenance Manager at Solid Foundations Academy, ensuring that the school’s facilities are safe, clean, and fully functional for students, staff, and families. With extensive experience as the owner of a masonry contracting and real estate rental businesses, Eric brings hands-on knowledge in repairs, construction, and preventative maintenance, creating an environment where learning can thrive without disruption.

Committed to maintaining a welcoming and secure campus, Eric works closely with staff and administration to support the Academy’s mission of providing individualized, high-quality education. His dedication ensures that every student enjoys a safe, comfortable, and inspiring space to learn and grow.

Chief Financial Officer

Andrew is the Chief Financial Officer at Solid Foundations Academy, where he manages the Academy’s financial operations to ensure sustainable growth and support for every student. A graduate of Penn State University with a degree in Accounting, Andrew brings extensive experience in business and educational finance.

With a focus on transparency, accountability, and strategic planning, he ensures that resources are used effectively so educators can focus on inspiring curiosity, fostering creativity, and helping each learner succeed. Andrew is committed to building a strong financial foundation that aligns with the Academy’s mission of providing individualized, high-quality education.

Our Trainee

Meet Our Therapy Dog

Zoey is a miniature Bernedoodle, and she is almost six months old. Bernedoodles are hypoallergenic, smart, and loving dogs. They are especially good with children. At SFA, we know that our children are struggling, especially after COVID. Zoey will be here to help decrease anxiety, provide comfort and support, and become every child's BEST FRIEND! Zoey is currently enrolled at a training school, and she will become a certified Therapy Dog when she is one years old.

Zoey can't wait to give you paw and a lick!
